Legendary comedian, talk show host, and automotive enthusiast Jay Leno has reached a electrifying new milestone: travelling more than 10000 miles using only grid energy in his Chevrolet Volt. Leno’s Volt still has the same tank of gas that was in his new car when he first drove it home from Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge! The car buff comedian is among a growing number of five-figure odometer Volt drivers set to receive a “10000 Electric Mile” badge for their vehicle in recognition of their achievement. Jay and a select group of Volt owners celebrated this historic milestone at the Los Angeles Auto Show. A Day In the Life of Jay: Leno estimates that he travels 28 miles to his studio, runs errands, and pulls into his driveway – all of which averages approximately 40 miles per day. Chevrolet Volt: More than 10 Million Miles with Two-Thirds Powered by Grid Electricity Chevrolet recently surveyed Volt owners and found they fill up, on average, once a month, travelling more than 900 miles between gas station visits. The EPA fuel economy label for the 2012 Volt indicates owners can expect to save approximately $7600 on fuel over five years compared to the average new vehicle, assuming the Volt is driven 15000 miles yearly …
