Croatia Speranza at the New York Times Travel Show
romanotravelonline.com Speranza Croatia can show you The Republic of Croatia, a European country situated along the Adriatic sea and its hinterland. Croatia stretches from the slopes of the Alps and deep into the Pannonian valley to the banks of the Danube and Drava rivers. It is indeed unique, not only for its crystal, clean blue sea, but also for a thousand of years of different cultures that have replaced and assimilated on its territory to finally create the unique culture of todays Croatia. Thus according to its natural characteristics, as well as its cultural and historical development, Croatia can be divided into three distinct zones: the Coastal region, the Mountain region and the Pannonian region. Thanks to the favourable geographical characteristic Croatia has always been a significant mercantile and nautical route. Before arrival of the Croats in the 7th century, the territory of present-day Croatia was inhabited by Illyrian tribes, Greeks and Romans. The Croats were organized in principalities that were united in the first Croatian state by Croatian King Tomislav. Later, Croatia retained its legal status and autonomy within the framework of the Hungarian empire, and the Habsburg Monarchy. Today the Republic of Croatia is a European parliamentary state and part of European political and cultural history. With its over 4 million inhabitants it is a country of concord, and one that is respectful towards its guests. The Croats strive to make their homeland equally …
“Driving” The Toyota Prius at NYIAS 2010
Yes, the Prius really does sound like a classic Maserati!
Mercury Milan, Lincoln MKX with mylincoln, & Lincoln MKZ Hybrid at NYIAS 2010 – 4/9/2010
Here is the 2011 Lincoln MKX with the exterior features, and most of the features are also shared with the Ford Edge Crossover. mylincoln and myford are part of the Microsoft Sync pacakage with intuitive controls with the climate, audio, navigation, and LED Screen of the instrument panel. The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid shares most of the features from the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrids. Just like the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrids, the exterior styling of the MKZ Hybrid is the same as the 2011 MKZ just to sort of forget that it’s a Hybrid. But with the Hybrid badge, it is easy to tell that it’s a Hybrid. It also gets the same fuel economy as the Fusion and Milan Hybrids, which actually beats the hs250h from Lexus and has 191 Horsepower with 2.4L Atkinsons Cycle engine with electric motor.

2010 Mercedes-Benz ML450 Hybrid @ 2009 NYIAS
MORE 2009 NEW YORK AUTO SHOW @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com The 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML450 Hybrid is the German automaker’s first production gas-electric hybrid, with a dual-mode system that matches exceptional power and torque with relatively good fuel economy. The hybrid crossover debuts this week at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The dual-mode system was developed in partnership with BMW, Chrysler and General Motors, and is similar in concept to the system used in the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. In this particular application, Mercedes-Benz mates a gasoline engine — a specially designed 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 — with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), twin electric motors, four clutches and the company’s 4Matic all-wheel drive. The combination delivers 335 horsepower and 381 pound-feet of torque, while returning 21 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway. Zero-to-60 acceleration takes 7.8 seconds, and top speed is just over 130 mph. In comparison, the 2010 Lexus RX 450h, which also uses a 3.5-liter V6, delivers a combined 295 hp and returns 28 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway for the all-wheel-drive edition. Both the Lexus and the Mercedes hybrids use nickel-metal hydride batteries. Mercedes-Benz says the ML450 Hybrid has a theoretical range of more than 500 miles on a single tank of gas. With its dual-mode system, the ML450 Hybrid can operate under pure electric power at low speeds, switching to the gasoline engine under mid-to-heavy throttle …
Volkswagen GTI @ 2009 New York Auto Show
MORE 2009 NYIAS @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com It’s the civility you notice first. There is no drama here — no compromises that have to be made in order to enjoy the turbocharged performance. In fact, when VW first developed the 2010 Volkswagen GTI, it proved to be so quiet that the engineers had to develop an electronic “sound generator” to deliver the proper aural stimulation to the driver. When the 2010 VW GTI debuts alongside the standard 2010 Volkswagen Golf (née Rabbit, as VW has decided to return to this car’s traditional model name even for the US market), it will be presented as a sophisticated German alternative to the Honda Civic Si and Mazda 3. It will debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show and finally reach showrooms in October. The price of the two-door hatchback will start from around $24000, while the four-door version will cost about $500 more.
2010 Land Rover LR4 @ 2009 New York Auto Show
MORE 2009 NYIAS @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com The revised 2010 Land Rover LR4 continues in the lr3′s footsteps as the most versatile Land Rover. The functional and spacious interior gets a clean new design, and under the hood, the hefty LR4 gets a 25 percent horsepower boost thanks to a new V8. The extra grunt, combined with some new electronic tech, eases towing chores, and the LR4 should maintain the marque’s lofty off-road reputation. Fresh from its launch in the 2010 Jaguars, a direct-injection 5.0-liter V8 motivates the US-bound LR4 with 375 hp and 375 pound-feet of torque). For all-terrain duty in the Land Rover, the Jag V8 has been modified with a deep oil sump, unique intake manifolds and waterproof drive accessories (starter, alternator, air-conditioner, etc.). The V8 will be paired with a revised six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Sadly, the new 3.0 TDI V6 introduced in the Euro-market LR4 will not be headed Stateside. This new diesel knocks out 443 lb-ft of torque while exceeding 30 mpg on the British test cycle thanks to a crafty dual-mode setup for the twin turbos, which can work either sequentially or in parallel. We’d probably hate having all that torque, combined with decent fuel mileage. Compared to the LR3, the LR4 is meant to emphasize superior on-road dynamics, and a stiffer front antiroll bar is teamed with new suspension geometry to quicken steering response and reduce body roll. A new, variable-ratio power steering setup aims …
Kia Forte Koup @ 2009 New York Auto Show
MORE 2009 NYIAS @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com Kia is entering the compact coupe fray this spring with a production version of last year’s Koup concept, introduced at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The 2010 Forte Koup shares its underpinnings with the new Forte sedan that was displayed in February at the Chicago show. Slightly shorter and lower than the sedan, the five-passenger Forte Koup is aimed at such competitors as the Scion tc, the Honda Civic, the Chevrolet Cobalt and the Ford Focus. It is being offered in two trim levels, EX and SX. The Forte Koup EX comes with a 156-horsepower DOHC 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Its EPA city/highway fuel economy numbers are 25 mpg and 34 mpg, respectively, with either transmission. The Forte Koup SX gets a larger, more powerful DOHC 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 173 hp and 168 pound-feet of torque. With the standard six-speed manual transmission, it is EPA rated at 22/32 mpg, while the optional five-speed automatic changes the fuel-economy ratings to 23/31 mpg. Both models come with standard air conditioning, tilt steering column, power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, cruise control and a six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and full ipod controls. The Forte Koup SX is the trim level of choice. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and 215/45R-17 tires, as well as sport cloth bucket seats with …
